What does a website cost in Malaysia? Ours cost less than a hotpot dinner.

Do you really need thousands of ringgit to build a website in 2026? CyberMeow built its own in 4 days with two AI tools and countless team debates.

Marketing
Rimau TL;DR: Our only new cash cost was USD 11.30 for the domain. The real cost was 4 days of work, AI subscriptions and a lot of team discussion. A good website is not about how complex it is, but whether it solves a business problem.

In Malaysia, a business website can cost anything from a few hundred to tens of thousands of ringgit.

But when CyberMeow built its own website, our only new cash cost was USD 11.30!

Of course, there were some hidden costs:

  • 💸 Domain: USD 11.30 (including fees)
  • ⏰ Time: 4 days of building and revising
  • 🤖 AI: paid ChatGPT + Claude Code subscriptions
  • 🫠 Sanity: the team disagreed on the design and debated until we questioned everything

So does a website really cost just 11 dollars?

The answer: it is not that simple.

1. How much does a website cost in Malaysia?

Prices vary a lot depending on the type of website.

Website typeTypical price
Single-page site (landing page)RM500–RM3,000
Small business websiteRM2,500–RM8,000
Complex corporate websiteRM8,000–RM30,000
E-commerce or custom systemFrom RM5,000

Market reference ranges only. Actual prices depend on design, features and services included.

Why does one person quote RM800 and another RM8,000?

Because you are not just buying a website. You are paying for design, development, features, testing and ongoing maintenance.

2. We only spent USD 11.30?

We recently launched the CyberMeow website.

Our only new cash cost was USD 11.30, for the cybermeowonmars.com domain.

And the development? It took us about 4 days, working with ChatGPT and Claude Code.

AI really does make building faster, but it cannot do everything.

Three teammates argue over one button: keep it minimal, more tech vibes, a bit more premium

Asking AI to change a button takes a few seconds.

Deciding where that button should go can take the team half an hour.

One person wants minimal, another wants tech vibes, and someone else feels the page should look “a bit more premium”.

What “a bit more premium” actually means, we are still figuring out. 😂

So USD 11.30 is only the domain. It does not include our time, AI subscriptions or the team’s effort.

3. So why do websites cost thousands of ringgit?

Because a business usually needs more than a page that loads.

  • 🍜 A restaurant may need a menu, online booking and a WhatsApp button.
  • ✈️ A travel company may need a multilingual site, tour pages and an enquiry system.

Behind those features is planning, design, development, basic SEO setup and maintenance.

What matters is not how complex a website is, but whether it solves a business problem.

4. Does a small business really need a website?

If you are just starting out, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp may be enough to reach your first customers.

As the business grows, a website gives your services one home, makes you look professional, and lets new customers find you on Google.

Small business roadmap: social media, simple website, SEO and enquiries, automation

You do not need to spend RM10,000 on a website.

Build the most important features first, then upgrade as your business needs it. That is usually the more practical path.

Finally: what did USD 11.30 buy?

Strictly speaking, just a domain name.

What actually brought the CyberMeow website to life was 4 days of work, AI tools, and round after round of team revisions.

That is the idea we want to share:

Technology is making websites easier to build, but a good website still needs good ideas and good execution.

If you are thinking about a website for your business, come say hi!
